Fear can give us tunnel vision and we can get stuck on what isn’t working. When we acknowledge the fear – take a step back and really figure out what exactly we are afraid of, we can actually work through it and get to the other side, one step at a time.

  • Embracing our fear means embracing growth. We all want to learn, grow and challenge ourselves, but in order to do so we must face fear when it shows up.
  • If we can change the negative to the positive and focus on doing our best, what success looks like, on the good we can do, how we will feel stronger, capable and more accomplished by facing the fear, this moves us forward.
  • Try to view fear as an object apart from your personal feelings. When we can objectify the fear, we can move it from the internal subjective to the external fact. This gives us a clear perspective and can lead to action

The truth is that people who embrace their fears are ultimately happier, more capable, better developed and more equipped to handle life and whatever comes their way.

Episode Quotes:

“Always do what you are afraid to do.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future.  If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay.  Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvellously. Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky. Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

“One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn’t do.” Henry Ford
