Milestones are markers of significant events or stages in our lives, development or progress.
Today we take it for granted much of the time that we can see history being made in real time thanks to the internet. But 50 years ago it was a big deal when the Apollo 11 moon landing was being reported live on television as it happened. People around the world remember where they were when they heard the announcements or saw the footage cross their screens. Why should we celebrate milestones of any kind?
